Training Program Evaluation Team in China | July 2008
Members of the US based training team for the Center’s Sustainable Urban Design and Planning Program spent an intense week in China from June 22 – July 1. The purpose of the visit, hosted by China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, was to evaluate the results of the annual training program organized by the China US Center and the Ministry with the Center’s training partners – led by Portland State University.
The agenda included a workshop with the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, site visits with Beijing Municipal Government, site visits and a workshop in Tangshan – the epicenter of the great earthquake of 1976, and workshops in Chongqing and Guangzhou.
The delegation included Portland State University and its College of Urban and Public Affairs, the Counselors of Real Estate, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, Parametrix, A.C. Schwethelm &amp; Associates, Inc, and the City of Portland Planning Bureau. The delegation was organized by Ms. Hanling Yang of the US Secretariat.
