Exploring Green Development

The International Housing Association Green Building Forum was held on September 21, 2007 at the Beijing Hotel in central Beijing. Approximately 200 developers from China and around the world participated in the Forum. The Center was an official supporter of the event.

Former Vice Minister of Construction, YANG Shen, opened the Forum. China Board Member, Madame NIE Meisheng, President of the China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce, delivered a keynote address on “Opportunities, Challenges and Models for a New Age.” Other plenary presentations were made by Professor QIN Youguo of Board Member Tsinghua University; Toshiaki Okamoto, Chairman of Asahi Kasei Homes in Japan; Ed Binkley, Partner in BSB Design in the US; and Ron Jones, President of Green Builder LLC from the US.

HU Zianjin, Vice President of Board Member company China Merchants Property Development and Miansheng Wang, Managing Director of the US Secretariat, participated in a panel discussion on green building practices. Derek Choi and Martin Li, representing Board Member Vermeer Manufacturing, participated in the Forum and fielded many inquires about their construction, environmental, composting and cogeneration technologies.
